Meet the team

Our Mission

Our goal is the creation of natural soaps through the careful selection of natural ingredients which minimise the impact on our planet while promoting good skin health.  We create beautifully simple and functional handmade soaps showcasing natures gifts by using quality natural oils (coconut, olive, sunflower, castor), cocoa butter, pure essential oils and botanicals. A simple product which enables anyone to make the switch from products containing synthetic ingredients to fully natural as easy as possible. We do not use fragrance oils, colours or toppings.  All our soaps are vegan, non-animal tested, totally natural and plastic and palm free.  A simple product, benefiting you, as well as our fragile planet and all that share it.  Handmade Paignton soap.

Meet the team!

Chris

Owner and product design/creation

For as long as I can remember I have always had a affinity for nature and a passion for all things within the natural world. Much to the amusement of my classmates at school, I could name most tree types and their seeds before leaving primary school. In 2005 I decided to study for a diploma in herbalism from the Institute of Natural Healing and this led to me making decoctions (extracting the essence of something), tinctures and all manner of herbal remedies for friends and family. Currently,  I am studying for to become a master herbalist.

Raising a family made me think about  what values and beliefs I would like to pass on to my children - this has become increasingly focused on the environment and the impact that humans have on the world around us. As a family we began trying to live more sustainably within our budget; as part of this I began making things at home, as it cut down on our plastic consumption.

Being in nature is one of the places in the world where I feel happiest - wandering through a forest, listening to birds and watching wildlife as the seasons pass. It was through focusing on what we could find on our doorstep and thinking of ways to combine herbal elements with natural ingredients that I realised I wanted to learn more - to understand the benefits of natural ingredients and the beneficial ways to combine them all without creating waste. I took a soap making business course in 2020; subsequently, SoaperSudz was born!

After extensive testing (mostly on myself and my much supportive family and close friends) we are now in a position to go live with products we are proud to be producing.  It was also imperative that our environmental beliefs, sustainability and responsibility along with my vegan values linked into the company ethos. Part of this process has been extensive supplier and product research, we believe we have achieved this. Where possible we are sourcing things locally to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. We hope to have captured all of this within each of our soaps and that you enjoy using them as much as we have enjoyed creating each and every one.

Thanks for showing an interest in our small business - any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi! I'm Holly and I have always believed in my Dad's ability to help the Earth and leave behind a legacy that has impact and inspire the generations of our family and everyone around him for years to come.

I am an avid supporter of small local buisness and love to be a champion for anyone with a sustainable product that I believe in. Therefore, it was really easy to get on board with and support Dad with this venture. I am vegetarian with really sensitive skin. As I have grown up and started buying my own cosmetics I have found it conflicting buying things that are meant to be helping my skin yet I was unable to read or know what the vast ingredients were - even when I thought they were natural. Therefore, when Dad started tinkering with soaps I was all for trialing them. I also frequently get my friends to try them out especially if they have a particular skin type so that we can get as much honest feedback as possible. It feels as though we have been going through this process for ages. But its also really exciting to be involved with starting up a business from the ground that I believe I and am passionate about. I love talking about it!
